U-16 Girls Return Home From National Championships
Excited About the Future!
Fredericksburg, VA-The U-16 Girls Super Y Team returned home last week after traveling to Tampa, Florida for the United Soccer Leagues National Championships that pitted our girls against some of the best competition in the United States.  The girls participated in four games over a five day period and each and every game was a battle for every inch.  The girls finished 0-4 and failed to score a goal but experienced what it is like at the next level.  "The other teams played real fast," said Hope Lee, center mid-fielder for the Lady Gunners, "They moved the ball around quickly and were very strong and athletic."  This seemed to be a very common response among the ladies.  Even the coach, Eric Dutt, commented on their speed and athleticism, "Every team we played was extremely athletic. Their pace, movement off the ball, and tactical awareness was very impressive.  I am glad the girls got to experience what it is like to play against teams like these."

Brittany Webster Selected to North American Finals All-League Team
First Ever Gunner to Earn Top Award

Fredericksburg, VA-After being the talk of her team upon her return from the North American Super Y National Finals, Brittany Webster was named to the Ninth Annual United Soccer Leagues All-League Team.  Though the team went 0-4, Brittany was able to distinguish herself above the rest receiving top nominations for the honor.  Brittany, a goalkeeper normally for the U-15 team, was called up to the team after Stephanie Delneky was injured and did the club very proud.  Brittany faced shot after shot making save after save, keeping the Lady Gunners in every game they played.  Her uncanny shot stopping ability and shear fortitude was a mark on the week as every player leaving the field was unanimous as to who their MVP was.  Brittany is now automatically eligible to attend the Super Y-League ODP National Camps beginning Thursday, January 10 in Cocoa, Florida.

U16 Girls Qualify for SYL National Finals during First Season
Team Travels to Tampa, FL on Nov. 15-20 for USL SoccerFest

FREDERICKSBURG, VA – An area known for producing some of the most famous women’s soccer players, the South Atlantic will be represented by the U16 Northern Virginia Majestics and the first year Fredericksburg Gunners at the ninth annual Super Y-League North American Finals.

Head-to-head the Majestics had a better run at the rest of the division, putting together a strong 7-3-1 season, good enough for second place in the division, but ultimately, they were unable to shake the Gunners.

“Our group was very sound from top to bottom,” said FC Fredericksburg Gunners Head Coach Eric Dutt. “CASL and Northern Virginia were the strongest teams in our group and we had some good results against Northern Virginia, tying 0-0 early in the season and winning 3-0 at home. I believe that proves we can play with anybody heading into the league finals.”
“Our strength comes from our depth,” added Dutt. “We used a lot of different players during the season and our second string girls came off the bench to fill those spots well. We are deep enough to be in every game by staying fresh.”

Staying fresh is a premium asset at the North American Finals where the high intensity of a league final couples with the endless stress and injuries accumulated over a five-day schedule.

“Overall, the competition of the Super Y-League was exactly what we expected,” said Dutt of his first season in the Super Y-League. “We expected to struggle, facing teams who have been around and won numerous championships in the past. We expected the top class of clubs in our area and we got that. Having to fight every match to get where we are has been great for the development of our girls. They have been able to test their skills against the best clubs on the east coast.”

The U16 Lady Gunners have been drawn into Group C for the National Finals and will face Cleveland Internationals and the New York Magic.
