Seven F.C. Fredericksburg Gunners were selected to the Super Y League National ODP Camp based on their performance in the 2007 season. The club would like to congratulate Dominique Bickham, Kara Blosser, Allison Brady, Ashley Herndon, Devin Ross, Brittany Webster, and Beth Wilson. These players will spend four days at the Cocoa Expo Sports Center in Cocoa Beach, FL training with the best players in the country. They will compete in matches throughout the week and the National Staff will select a National Select Team at the end of the week.
Blosser started the year on the Super 20’s - and was later promoted to the W-League team where she became the youngest player on record (16) to score a goal in a W-League match! "Kara is an amazing talent with incredible energy" Pete Cinalli, head coach says. "She can unbalance an entire defense with her ability to penetrate as well as her off the ball runs". Kara has been a Virginia State ODP player for many years and has traveled to & with various ODP teams. She was selected to the National ODP pool before but missed the camp due to an ankle injury. Kara plays Club soccer on the U18 FASA Impact for Coach Cinalli where she is a team captain and was once again the leading scorer in a very successful fall season. Blosser is in her junior year and has numerous Division 1 schools heavily recruiting her.
Ashley Herndon & Beth Wilson both played for Coach Cinalli’s U14 Super Y team last summer and were selected for their outstanding performance throughout the initial season! Herndon anchored the defense as a central defender and was extremely impressive shutting down some of the top players in the Southwest Division! "Ashley is extremely athletic, strong and took on every challenge with non-stop hustle and a great attitude" Cinalli said. "She led by example and demonstrated a great work ethic at every practice and game". Beth Wilson was a huge impact player as an outside midfielder for the Lady Gunners. "Beth was always in the right spot at the right time and made great decisions with the ball". "Her pure hustle along with outstanding technical skills & tactical decisions had a major impact in both attacking and defending" Cinalli added. "Beth was the model for consistency and brought it to every match".
During the 2007 season, Devin Ross captained the U13 Boys squad, while Dominique Bickham captained the U16 Boys. Allison Brady served as the captain of the U16 Girls team that appeared at the 2007 Super Y League National Finals in Tampa, FL. Brittany Webster was selected to the National ODL Camp after her remarkable performance at the National Finals earner her a spot on the All-Finals Team.
