The Premier Arena Soccer League has announced that the F.C. Fredericksburg Generals will serve as the official host of the 2008 PASL Winter League International Finals. On March 14th and 15th, 2008, the top amateur indoor teams from across North America will compete at the Fredericksburg Field House for the right to be called PASL International Champions. "This is a great opportunity for the Mid-Atlantic region to see what this league is all about. We feel very fortunate to have been selected as hosts and we hope to provide a great indoor experience for everyone involved," said Eric Dutt, Head Coach of the Fredericksburg Generals.
Now in its 10th year of operation, the PASL is the largest International indoor/arena soccer league in the world. The PASL currently has 48 teams in the USA, 6 in Mexico, and 1 in Canada. Teams play in regional divisions beginning in late November and continuing through March with the champions of each division advancing to the International Finals. The 2007 Finals were held in Tijuana, Mexico with Studio of Texas defeating Virmac of Mexico 8-5 in the final. Recently, the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) held it annual draft and 5 PASL players were selected including Lee Williams of the Tacoma Stars with the 3rd overall pick.
The F.C. Fredericksburg Generals will begin their second season in the PASL in November. In their first season of action, the Generals finished with a 7-1 regular season record while leading the league in goals scored and average home attendance.
